Mixed Chicks In The City
It was my sister Christina's 30th birthday. Her husband hatched a plan to fly all of my sister's into St. Louis for a fast and furious girls weekend! We hadn't all been in the same state for three years! I can't even tell you how much of a blessing it was to finally all be together. It's funny how you don't even notice your relationship with your siblings during the teenage years. You take them for granted and treat them like sub-class citizens. Then you are completely shocked when you move away and your heart aches for them. For the familiarity. The inside jokes. The love. There are 8 Wells kids total. 5 girls and 3 boys. It dawned on me how our parents gave us an absolutely incredible gift. The gift of a large family. The gift of built-in best friends for life. The gift of a close-knit support group. While this weekend was all about my bad a$$ sister (who broke the internet in her red leather pants and boss high-cut fade) ...it was also about healing and opening up to each other. This weekend was about reading the Word of God together, praying together, singing together, drinking together, eating too much together, just being together. So so so grateful.
